GROWTH IN COMMUNITY

GROWING IN DISCIPLESHIP WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES

The Net Economic Community Development Corporation (NECDC) is a federally recognized nonprofit and community development organization based in Summerville, SC. As an extension of The Net International Ministries (The Net), Inc., NECDC was founded to strengthen and uplift the socioeconomic and cultural vitality of our community—especially as it faces the growing challenges of rapid population growth and limited resources.

Building on over a decade of success through The Net’s educational and arts initiatives, NECDC is expanding its reach with programs that empower, educate, and inspire. From after-school tutoring and year-round performing arts instruction to enriching summer camps and hands-on service learning projects like Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child and Charleston’s Convoy of Hope, our impact is both deep and wide.

The Ravenel Babb Higher Education Scholarship is a powerful next step in our mission—helping young adults pursue higher education, mentorship, and leadership training so they can become change-makers in their professions and communities.

Together, we’re building stronger futures—one student, one family, one neighborhood at a time.

BISHOP JAMES L. RAVENEL AND

REVEREND DR. MORGAN BABB

Beyond being forerunners and legacy builders, Bishop James L. Ravenel and Reverend Dr. Morgan Babb, were influencers of their time and beyond. Born during the socially and economically temperamental times of the 20’s in America, Bishop Ravenel (1920-1996) and Dr. Babb (1929-2014), committed their life to breaking down barriers and building bridges, not only for their family members, but also for members of their communities. Through entrepreneurship and ministry, Bishop Ravenel and Reverend Babb reached changed the world for the better. They lived a life characterized by dedicated and innovative work, perseverance, personal sacrifice, and service to others. Both men through God’s gifting and anointing restored a number of struggling Christian churches of their time to be able to again thrive in serving their community needs. Both men used music as a tool to reach the masses, entering the music industry and ultimately establishing themselves as permanent figures in music history.

The Ravenel Babb Higher Education Scholarship Fund

carries forward the legacy of two remarkable trailblazers by investing in the next generation of servant leaders. Through scholarships, mentorship, and professional development, we equip young adults to thrive in their careers and make a lasting impact—both in their communities and in advancing God’s Kingdom.”
